So, you've always wanted to take nice photos, but never really had a chance to learn much about photography. Well, of course you can always read the book that came with that new camera or phone......yeah.....right. LOL. Maybe some day. So first go out and take some pictures. It's the digital age, so it doesn't cost you any dollars anyway. Have some fun. You might surprise yourself. Good photos sometimes just happen when you have no clue, but not too often. I've been taking pictures for over 50 years. I've been a photographer for only a small segment of those years. Did I get lucky every once in a while. Yep.....sure did. When you have a decent camera and shoot on "auto", good things sometimes happen. Especially if you're in beautiful places that Mother Nature created for us.
OK, so what do you do to learn how to take really good photos? Well, there are lots of photography courses available to everyone these days, and most are pretty dang good. And, of course many Photoshop and Lightroom courses are available in many venues. But my first recommendation is to join a local photography club. It's generally quite inexpensive and the opportunity to gain photography knowledge is amazing. I joined the local Lakewood Ranch Digital Photography Club (LWRDPC) four years ago as member # 27, and the knowledge I've gained is immeasurable. The membership is now about 250. In addition to how much the members have taught me, they also head you in the right directions for outside education. I could write for many pages about the benefits of joining a photography club. It's the best thing I've ever done in respect to photography, so I really recommend that to every aspiring photographer, beginner, intermediate of professional. So go on line and find the local club in your area. If you don't find one.....start one. If you need some help, contact me.
